George was the husband of Alan Betts's great aunt Gertrude Ann Barnett. He was born in Hednesford in 1890 and later became a Hawkesman
In July 1916, he came home on leave and married Gertrude in Hednesford
After home leave, he returned to France. On the 28th March 1918 he was killed at Arras
