The Landor (Local History) Society is a focus for those who wish to learn more about the history of Rugeley and its surrounding parishes.  It was founded in 1953 and was named in honour of Walter Noble Landor, local and county historian, who became the Society’s first President

Our members are not necessarily experts, but are enthusiastic people with an interest in local history, a willingness to share what they learn and a desire to preserve our local heritage.  Some are able to be active in local research; others are content with attending our meetings

Their monthly meetings normally include a guest speaker or, in the summer months, visits to local villages and other nearby places of interest.  The society also organises occasional short courses on historical subjects.  Details of our current programme can be found on their ‘Programme’ page
